Outbound Sales
Outbound sales is a marketing methodology where sales and marketing teams directly push their business’s message and pitch to prospects through techniques including social selling, email marketing, and cold calling. The goal is to warm prospects up so that they can set up meetings, conduct product demonstrations, connect with decision-makers in B2B markets, and close deals.
In contrast to inbound sales where sales representatives wait for prospects to contact them, in outbound sales the sales representatives are contacting prospects directly instead of waiting — there are pros and cons to both approaches.
Outbound sales teams are often divided into sales development representatives and business development representatives. The former focuses on outbound sales by creating opportunities and arranging meetings while the latter focus on closing deals and converting prospects into customers.
